Mr Sveinung Oftedal

Sveinung Oftedal holds a Masters of Science in geophysics and is currently Specialist Director in the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment with focus on international negotiations on environmental requirements for the maritime sector. Has also been working with these issues in the Norwegian Maritime Directorate and for several years been acting as Norwegian Head of Delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at the Marine Environment Protection Committee. He has been involved negotiations on the hot topics at the IMO such as Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Air Pollution, Ship Recycling, Ballast Water Management and others. Chairman of the PPR Sub-Committee at the IMO, and intersessional working group on reduction of GHG emissions from ships.
